Samsung told Gizmodo they are aware of the reports, but until there is an official fix, here are a few ways you can keep this potentially embarrassing bug from happening to you.
The bug seems to stem from Samsung’s own Messages app. Your first line of defense is to shut off its access to the Photos on your phone. You can do this by going into Settings, turning off the Storage permissions for Messages. At this point, depending on your phone model, you might have to switch to another SMS app until Samsung comes up with an official fix or explains what is happening here.
Here’s the step by step:
1. Go into Settings on your phone. Pull down from the top of your screen and tap the “gear” icon.

3. Look for the Messages app and tap there. The icon should look like this:
You’re looking for Samsung’s default SMS app. Other SMS apps are not affected, including Verizon’s Messages+ app. The picture below shows a custom icon pack, so yours probably won’t look like this.

At this point, you might be able to continue using your SMS app as normal, but you won’t be able to send photos. Depending on your phone model, Messages might say it can’t function without Storage permission.
You’ll need to make a decision – do you want to take your chances with the app and allow access to your photos? Alternatively, you can switch to another text messaging app until Samsung clears up this issue.
Bonus Tips:
Actually, when messages are deleted, they only turns to be invisible, and then disappear completely when being overwritten. To retrieve deleted messages from Samsung phones, you don’t need to look farther than Samsung Data Recovery. It’s a professional data recovery software with high recovery rate. It can recover SMS messages and other Android data from a lot of scenarios like System crash, accidental deletion, factory reset and others.
