In this review I will tell you the Pros & Cons about the Elephone Trunk. I will for sure not tell you that it is perfect! as I never have seen the perfect phone yet.

But for the price of 111 USD you get a really nice entry-level phone. And it does also have some surprising good things too! like the camera, build quality & UI speed!

This phone also has no stagefright vulnerability! So I believe it runs with true Android 5.1.1. The camera should be from Samsung, but unfortunately I could not verify this in any way, other than the camera does shoot some pretty good pictures.

Elephone are soon to be joining the many other Chinese companies that have jumped on the smart watch bandwagon, many of the watches from other companies have concentrated on providing heart rate and sedentary monitoring capabilities as well as bluetooth call notification and the ability to use the watch as a Mic/speaker.

Whilst these watches have generally been fairly cheap, they have also been sadly lacking Google’s Android Wear platform, this has left them with only basic apps and no real chance of being more than they are.

With the ELE Watch, the first Android Wear smartwatch from Elephone, they are jumping in to the ring with the big boys such as Motorolla, Lg and samsung and to some extent Apple.

Style wise the ELE watch looks fairly attractive and has a 1.5″ 320 x 320 multi touch screen (The Motorola has a 1.56′ 320 x 290 multitouch screen ), unlike the round watches seen from Motorola, the Ele Watch has a full face screen (not flat tyre for this phone), the case looks to be made of stainless steel as does the strap.

On board the phone you will find 512m of ram and 4gb of ram this is the same as found on the Motorola, which should prove to be more than adequate for a smartwatch.

The phone has also been tested and rated at IP67 dust and water resistant and has built in GPS.

Hopefully when launched, this will be the catalyst that sees other China phone/watch companies embrace Android Wear and drive prices down and quality/features up.

What's new for the Elephone P9000?

Elephone has released quite a few devices in the last year or so, and interesting enough, a number of them were really compelling. This company used to manufacture low and mid-range devices made out of metal before, but they’ve decided to turn their focus on high-end models as well back when they announced the P7000 model. The company has rolled out the P8000 not long after the P7000 (both of which we’ve reviewed by the way), and we’re expecting them to roll out the high-end Elephone Vowney and P9000 models soon as well.

According to the news on androidheadlines, Elephone intends to release the P9000, P9000 Lite and P9000C models in the near future. All of these devices sport interesting design, and the highest-end will sport no side bezels according to our info. Well, today we received an additional piece of information when it comes to this smartphones, read on.



If you take a look at the image above this article you’ll get to see the Elephone P9000C in the flesh. This smartphone won’t be the highest-end out of the bunch, quite on the contrary, but it still sport really sleek design overall. Before we start talking about its specifications, it’s worth mentioning that all three previously-leaked Elephone P9000 handsets (showcased in the gallery, keep in mind these renders aren’t final) will come with Android 6.0 Marshmallow pre-installed! These are great news for consumers, but it also means that they won’t launch before October because Google still hasn’t released the company’s new Nexus devices. Elephone usually doesn’t install many of their apps on top of Android, so it shouldn’t be too hard of the company to switch to Android 6.0 Marshmallow.

Anyhow, let’s talk more about Elephone P9000C, shall we. This smartphone will sport a 5.5 inch 1080p (1920*1080) display, and a 13.0MP rear-facing camera. The device will be powered by MediaTek’s Helio P10 (MT6755) 64bit octa core processor, and it will be really affordable according to our source. That’s more or less it, we’ll report back as soon as additional info becomes available, stay tuned.

Elephone have today confirmed that all three variants of the P9000, will ship with Android 6.0 Marshmallow

Making the P9000 range of handsets amongst the first non Nexus handsets to do so and hopefully give the phones a competitive edge.

With the introduction of Android 6.0 Marshmallow we will see the integration of Android Pay, giving us a proper use for the finger print scanner built in to the P9000 Marshmallow and other recent Android handsets.

Hopefully with the release of the P9000 Elephone will once again choose to provide source codes via github, if they do then we may well see homebrew roms and fast fixes to problems should they arise.

I am looking forward to getting some hands on time with P9000 Marshmallow.
