First Look at the ZTE V5

Earlier today, ZTE unveiled the third generation of its V5 mid-range smartphone and now we have hands-on pictures of the new device.

The new ZTE V5 comes with a slew of impressive features including a 5.5-inch 1080p display, a Snapdragon 615 processor, and a fingerprint sensor. It also features a full aluminum body that puts it above its competitors with plastic bodies. The aluminum alloy used on the new V5 features corrosion resistance and comes in either silver or gold depending on the variant of the device.

The body of the new V5 is reminiscent of the MX5 from Meizu although it comes out a bit blockier. It also features a similar blue ring capacitive home key found on other Meizu smartphones. Looking at the pictures, it looks like the V5’s body is composed of four main pieces of aluminum alloy – a frame surrounding the display, a rear middle shell, and pieces on both the top and bottom that extend to the rear of the device.

The rear of the device features a round-shaped camera lens and a single LED flash as well as a round-shaped fingerprint sensor below it. The bottom of the device is where the device’s micro USB port is found positioned near the right-hand side of the frame instead of the usual center placement. The right-hand side of the device features the devices volume rocker and sleep/power button. The left-hand side is where the SIM tray is found. Lastly, the top is where the 3.5mm audio jack is located.

The third-generation ZTE V5 will be available in three variants – a youth variant, an Energy variant, and an Extreme variant that are priced at 999 Yuan, 1299 Yuan, and 1499 Yuan, respectively.
