Chuwi Vi8 Plus Review - An 8" Windows 10 Tablet.

First of all i will say thank´s to http://chuwi.com/ for Sending me the Tablet for a Review.

Between the extremely cheap tablets, the most interesting devices are the ones equipped with Windows, due to the potential good versatility of Windows on Cherry Trail Tablets.
Windows for the possibility to be used as a laptop-replacement and the complete compatibility with all x86 softwares and Microsoft Office documents.

Here in the followings are the technical characteristics of the tablet:

- 8GB, 1280 x 800 pixel IPS display
- Intel Atom x5-Z8300 quad-core processor
- Windows 10
- 2GB of RAM
- 32GB of eMMC storage
- microSD card slot
- micro HDMI port
- 802.11b/g/n WiFi and Bluetooth 4.0
- 2MP front and rear cameras
- 4,000 mAh battery

Also the Tablet have a USB-C Port that is realy new Feature that i like, because the Connector is more robust then the Micro USB and you can Plugin it like you want.
I have tested the Tablet now for more than a Week and i am impressed by it.

The Touchscreen and the Working Speed of the Tablet is good. Also the Preinstalled Windows 10 where Setup correct and Works like it should.
It where easy for me to grab Windows 10 Updates and Download other Languages the English.
The Intel Cherry Trail is a good compromise of performance and battery drain for low-middle class devices.
In this case the use of an Intel SoC is useful to guarantee complete x86 compatibility to allow Windows 10 home functionalities as on a Desktop PC.

Dimensions and Build quality:

With a weight of 340gr (measured) it’s not the lightest tablet I’ve seen, considering also the battery of 4000mAh.
So probably some of the extra weight is due to the internal heatspreader that helps reducing SoC produced heat that during all tests have been kept always under control.

The back cover is made of plastic with a “fingerprint” finishing to increase grip. The tablet as soon as you get it on your hand gives a feeling of solidity.
The reduced bezel size improve screen-to-size ratio, and makes its overall dimension similar to a 9.7” display device of other brands.
Build quality
is good for the price with no squeaks’ or crunches. All the tablet plastics are well assembled: no dust under the screen (common on ultra-cheap Chinese devices),
no dead pixels, no problems or malfunctions of every button.

Surprisingly Windows logo on the bottom is not only cosmetic.
It has the following functions:

- In Windows (desktop mode) is used to open “start menu”
- In Windows (tablet mode) is used to go back to main page of the Windows Tiles

Display and TouchScreen:

The display is a common IPS with a resolution of 1280x800 (16:10 ratio). Not a bad resolution for an 8” tablet.
It helps reducing weight and increasing battery life and general performance.
The Touchscreen has a good sensitivity and is perfectly able to detect 10 simultaneous touches.

Connections:

Bluetooth:
Pairing any device on Windows is a very easy job. Also pairing a Bluetooth speaker deactivate the integrated speaker of the tablet correctly.

Wireless:
Thanks to the plastic cover of the tablet there are no issues or limited sensitivity for wifi. Connection is established quickly and kept stably.
Network of my neighbors can be easily seen too.

MicroSD:
Every MicroSD I’ve inserted have been recognized correctly on both OS. Unfortunately I haven’t had the possibility to test MicroSD bigger than 16Gb.

Micro HDMI:
Need an adapter from micro-HDMI to HDMI to be connected to the TV, so I’ve ordered the adapter, I will upgrade this review as soon as I receive it.

Earphone jack:
Works correctly deactivating integrated speaker.

Boot times:

Boot times are generally good and similar to other competitors:
Cold boot on Windows: 25 sec to lock screen.

Usability / Stability / Performances:

The real plus of the use of a Intel Atom x5-Z8300 quad-core processor is the compatibility with x86 OS.
On a tablet, having a complete version of the Microsoft Windows 10 Home x86 is interesting:
  • with Windows 10 Home fully licensed, the OS will be always updated through Windows Update
  • it is possible to install via BT or USB a keyboard and mouse, converting the device in a laptop that can really improve personal productivity.
  • the presence of Micro-HDMI with the possibility to use a bigger screen raises the multitasking ability of Windows.
Windows update is fully functional so on this device OS obsolescence will not be a problem. General performance in Windows are good, no lag or stuttering even opening multiple windows.
Browsing with Edge is good, the possibility to open multiple windows for Copy-paste operation is an interesting capability.
On windows 10 going from tablet mode to desktop mode is easy: sliding from right to left appears the notification center with tablet mode / desktop mode button.

More Info on the CPU you find there http://www.notebookcheck.net/Intel-A....146643.0.html

Movies:

On Windows movies up to 4K are played perfectly, also possible to work with other applications while 4K movie is playing without any stuttering.
This is amazing for such a cheap device.

Battery life:

Use: 4-6 hours in normal use
Movie playback: 6:45 of continuos playback with brightness at 50% and wifi deactivated
Stand-by Windows 10: lose 0,5% every hour
Charging Time: 2 hours with wall charger (2Amp), 3 hours with USB

Conclusions:

The flexibility of an Windows 10 device, considering the extremely low street price of around 100USD there are no other issues to not consider this tablet.
It’s extremely cheap, can be used as a Desktop as soon as you connect keyboard and mouse on Windows 10, all connections work properly, WiFi sensitivity is very good and stable,
movie playback is perfect up to 4K.

Thanks again to Chuwi to give me the Tablet for a Review!

Flymemo DM007 RC Quadcopter Drone Hands On

Everyone seems to be into drones these days, so I decided to try one out myself. Since I had no previous experience with these devices, I went for the Flymemo DM007 RC Quadcopter, which is an entry-level drone that is perfect for those who are trying to fly one for the first time. The aircraft is available for only $56.99 on Amazon, so it can’t really be compared to DJI’s drones which cost several hundred dollars, but I was quite impressed with the quality of this affordable drone. It may not be a high-end device, but it definitely is a great entry-level one and its price is more than reasonable.

Design

The drone comes in a quite big box, so I thought that the aircraft will also be large, but to be honest, the packaging fooled me, and I was faced with a rather small drone after unboxing it. The remote control of the device actually seems to be bigger than the drone itself. The design of the Flymemo DM007 RC Quadcopter drone is quite sleek. I had the black version, with the LED lights on the front and on the back of the device. The LED light don’t only look great, they also allow users to fly the quadcopter at night also. The drone is extremely light, and it looks and feels plasticky. Thankfully, the plastic it is made from is quite resistant, given the fact that its first journey ended by hitting the wall and falling on the ground without any permanent damages to show. One of its stands fell down, but it was extremely easy to put back and it doesn’t even have a scratch. The battery of the drone goes into a little chamber situated on the bottom of the device and it is protected by a tray that is easy enough to open without any difficulties but will still make sure that the battery won’t fall out when it shouldn’t. To be honest, I was quite impressed with the build quality of the Flymemo DM007 RC Quadcopter, because at frist glance it seemed plasticky and cheap, but in the end, it proved to be quite resistant and well built. There is a black and a white model, some include a 2MP camera, and the others, like the one I got to test, don’t.

Flight and control

The Flymemo DM007 RC Quadcopter is quite easy to control once you got the hang of it. Even though it’s first trip ended in the wall, it was really easy to learn which control does what and how to handle the remote control in order to direct the device exactly where I wanted it to go. The remote control is quite responsive, so you should be delicate with it, otherwise, you could land your DM 007 in the wall too. Those who never had or flown a drone before should consider starting out with the beginner speed until they get used to the controls and how sensitive and responsive they are, and after that, they can switch to the pro speed mode, which is a lot faster than the beginner’s. Even though you can fly the Flymemo DM 007 indoors, it would be better to learn how to fly it outdoors, preferably on a grassy field, so if you crash it, the drone won’t suffer any real damages. The display of the remote control will offer you details about the speed, signal strength, the battery power, the used speed and tuning mode, and so on. The 6-axis gyro featured by the Flymemo DM007 RC Quadcopter  nicely stabilizes the aircraft and the responsive remote control allows users to smoothly rotate the device 360 degrees and turn the gadget right or left. The quadcopter is incredibly easy and fun to fly, so it could turn into the perfect first drone for everyone that would like to own one.
IMG_20160117_113228

Battery life

The Flymemo DM007 RC Quadcopter is powered by a 7.4V 380mah battery that is, to be honest, quite tricky to place in the device. It connects to the aircraft with a cable that it quite hard to place under the battery in such a way that the bottom tray can be closed after the battery is placed in the gadget. However, once you manage to find the perfect position for the battery, the tray will close and it won’t allow the battery to fall out under any circumstances. The remote control needs 4 1.5V AA battery batteries which are not included in the package. The 380mAh battery needs to charge for around 80 to 90 minutes and it will offer about 7-8 minutes of flight time. Even though it is not quite impressive, it does behave like any other quadcopter in its price range or, even more, expensive ones, so it isn’t that disappointing either. The remote control has a range of around 150metres, but considering the quite short battery life of the aircraft I advise you not to use the full range if you don’t want to pick up your gadget from between the bushes or who knows where else. It’s better to keep the quadcopter in your visual range because once it goes out of batteries and the LEDs go off, it will be quite difficult to retrieve if you fly it far away.
IMG_20160117_112951

Camera

Although the model I got to test didn’t have a camera, the one that is on sale for $56.99 on Amazon does come with a 2MP camera. Don’t expect the video quality that is delivered by DJI’s drones which cost several hundred dollars, or even thousands, but it will still be able to capture some good quality images. If you are not satisfied with the image quality delivered by the camera of the Flymemo DM 007 RC Quadcopteryou can opt for changing the camera with another one that is small and light enough for your quadcopter to handle it. The 808 Keychain HD camera, for example, could be a great option because its lightweight and dimensions make it a perfect match for the Flymemo DM 007. Besides the camera and the Flymemo DM 007 RC Quadcopter, the package also includes a transmitter, a protection set, one LCD monitor, 4 spare blades, a 2GB memory card, a card reader, a charger for the battery, a user manual, and a landing skid.

Conclusion

The Flymemo DM007 RC Quadcopter is definitely not comparable to a DJI drone, but then again, its price is almost ten times lower than the one the DJI drones go for. Overall, the DM007 is a good, we could even say great, entry-level aircraft that is easy to control and offers a good battery life. The build of the drone might come off as being cheap at first sight, but thankfully it proved to be resistant, so users won’t have to worry about seriously damaging their drone at every fall. The low price of the drone turns it into one of the best entry-level drones users could own. It’s fun to fly it, so if you would like to purchase one, the Flymemo quadcopter is a great possible choice.

Flymemo Wireless Stereo Headset Review

Are you looking for a budgeted Wireless headphone for leisure usage or jogging? The hot sale Flymemo Wireless Stereo Headset HV-600 may be a good choice for you.
HV600 -box
Unboxing
Inside the box you can find the headset, 2 additional pairs of silicon earbuds with large and small sizes, one Micro-USB charging cable, as a booklet of quick start guide.
HV600 -0
Specifications
  • Bluetooth 4.0 + EDR
  • Bluetooth working range up to 15 meters
  • Talk time up to 5 hours
  • Music time up to 4 hours
  • Standby time up to 130 hours
  • Charging time less than 2.5 hours
  • Able to connect to two devices simultaneously
Performance
Pairing with my iPhone 6s Plus had been smooth and seamless. Having been listening with this headset for a couple of hours, I had not experienced any drop out, lagging and disconnection. It has been super stable.
HV600 -5
Sound quality is surprisingly good for such price point. The output is balanced that I can easily get used to at first usage, unlike the Jaybird earbuds that require some time for the ears to adjust. It is definitely not toward the sharp end but a rather warm approach which is comfortable to listen. The base is not outstanding so if you are a fan of such, it may disappoint you.
The headset does a pretty good job in terms of noise cancellation. In noisy environment it is able to keep you with enjoyable music without being disturbed by pedestrian’s loud talking voice around.
Build quality
Honestly speaking, the headset is very comfortable to wear and it stays securely on your ears thanks to the unique neck-strap design and light-weight plastic build material. And one of the best things I love is the big and “clicky” control buttons that is really easy to use especially when you are having exercises. They are easy to press on and responsive.
HV600 -2
However, I had a really hard time believing a review from Marc The Geek that he claimed that the build quality is great, at least from what I could see from the review unit here. Far beyond premium quality, not even could I say “decent”. Based on what I received, I would say ou can easily get one with better build quality for even a lower price for a budgeted headset or simply wait for a discount for even mid-range headsets during holiday seasons. May be it is just an exception but worth noting if you want to cash in.
HV600 -4
Battery life
Another downside is that the battery does not last long. Comparing with the popular ones that come with at least 6 to 8 hours of music and talk time, which is quite a norm nowadays, 4 to 5 hours for this HV-600 headset is indeed below average. But charging is really quite fast as far as I tried.
HV600 -3
Conclusion
You can get this HV-600 headset for $29.99 on Amazon. Not that I will strongly recommend but it is not a bad choice indeed for it comfort-ability and excellent sound quality.
