Pre-order new Elephone P9000 series phones with 50 dollars off
Pre-order new Elephone P9000 series phones with 50 dollars off
Pre-order new Elephone P9000 series phones with 50 dollars off
I have just received some codes from our friends at Gearbest that will allow you to Pre-order new Elephone P9000 series phones with 50 dollars off.
If you are looking at getting a P9000 but have not yet signed up to Elephones crowd sourcing deal, I have some great news.
Gearbest are offering readers of Gadgetz.tv codes that will give you the same maximum $50 discount on both the P9000 and P9000 Lite, that you would have received were you to pay $5 out of your own pocket.
The handsets feature 5.5 inch LG screens with 1.6mm bezels, 2.0GHz Mediatek Helio P10 MTK6755 Octa Core CPU, 13.0MP rear camera, along with 4GB of RAM and 32GB ROM, they also feature USB Type-C, OTG and an E-Touch Fingerprint reader.
Another plus point will be the inclusion of Android Marshmallow straight out of the box, hopefully this will be a pretty much stock experience which should make for faster future updates and along with the huge 4GB of ram a much quicker feel to the user interface.
To Pre-order new Elephone P9000 series phones with $50 off off head over to gear best and enter the codes at the checkout
Click here for the Elephone P9000 and enter coupon code :P9000SAM to get the phone for just $219.99
Click here for the Elephone P9000 Lite and enter coupon code : P9000Lite to get the phone for just $169.99
Hopefully I will be receiving review samples of the phones soon and will be able to give you the full low down, for now I would love to hear your thoughts on the new Elephone P9000 range of phones, are they the handsets that will help Elephone to overcome some of the previous negativity? the fact that they are now using quality screens with small bezels will certainly go some way towards pacifying some of the big bezel haters out there.

Oukitel to attend MWC 2016
Oukitel to attend MWC 2016
We have received a press release from Oukitel today although they are still a very young company they are showing how serious they are about branching out across the pond and growing Oukitel to attend MWC 2016.
If you are heading to MWC 2016 be sure to head over to their booth, to check out their existing range of reasonably priced big battery handsets including the Oukitel K4000, K6000 and K10,000
They are also going to be showcasing some of their forthcoming handsets, including the K4000 Pro and K6000 Pro set for release in the first half of 2016.
The choice that Oukitel have made to focus on big batteries is one that helps to set them apart from the mainstream China phone companies and is one that will hopefully prove to be beneficial to users as CPU’s and GPU’s become ever more power hungry.
You can stay up to date with news from Oukitel via their Facebook page or on their website
Oukitel to attend MWC 2016 will you be there?

Elephone release first update for the Elephone Vowney, says Vowney rumours are not true
The update for the Elephone Vowney is still based on Android 5.1 and can be downloaded from the official Elephone forums here. At this time Elephone haven’t provided a change log for the update so we’ll assume it’s a minor update with just a few stability and perofmance fixes.
While I had the chance to speak to Elephone I also asked if rumours that the Vowney was to be cancelled and replaced with the Elephone P9000 were true (apparently these rumours have sparked up again). Elephone say its not true and manufacture of the Vowney will re-commence after the Chinese New Year celebrations.

Mediatek Helio X20 benchmarks revealed
Two pieces of interesting Helio X20 news today. The first being the leaked Antutu benchmarks posted over on Chinese websites and the 2nd that the benchmarks were ran on a HTC phone.
Each year Mediatek launches a new flagship chipset and each year we wait with bated breath to see what phones will ship first and what the performance will be like. This year is a little different though as Mediatek and it’s Helio X20 are seen as serious competition o the Snapdragon 820, Kirin 950 and latest Samsung processors.
These Antutu benchmarks from the first (known) Helio X20 tests show the processor can score 85,632 points. That’s not a bad score for a phone with 2K display and 3GB RAM (see below). But it’s not as high as we hoped really.
In comparison the Snapdragon 650 powered Redmi Note 3 scores 74,000 points on Antutu 6.0. As the Helio X20 is seen more as a Snapdragon 820 rival many tech enthusiasts were hoping for a really incredible number.
But before you turn away with your head drooped in disappointment keep in mind that the Helio X20 isn’t even in mass production yet, and that these earlier benchmarks are probably taken from development phones needing a lot of optimisation to really see the chip’s full potential.
Speaking of the phone, the model that the X20 is rumoured to have ran this Antutu score is a HTC device with 2K display, 3GB RAM, 32GB memory, 21 mega-pixel rear camera and 13 mega-pixel front.
With this first benchmark out of the way keep posted for more Antutu scores to come. What are your first impressions of the Helio X20 benchmarks?
More exciting news will be coming

CamKart a wheely great idea for Pro-photographers
CamKart a wheely great idea for Pro-photographers
CamKart a wheely great idea for Pro-photographers
If like me you find yourself doing more and more photographic work outdoors you will know the pain of having to select what kit you can carry on the job, often having to leave some lenses behind as you simply cannot lug them all around with you.
I currently use a camera rucksack, the wait of a couple of bodies and lenses soon add up and by the end of the day my shoulder is killing.
Thankfully a longterm photographer named Paul Slater Saban, has been working on an all terrain equipment trolly to make all of our lives easier and help to bring back the joys of onsite photography rather than the pain and kit compromises that have become the norm.
Paul has spent the last 6 years trialling the CamKart across 3 continents to ensure that its rugged design is able to stand up to any conditions that you might throw at it, whilst ensuring your kit is kept safe.
The CamKart features a strong moulded plastic box, which is is mounted to 2 large EVA foam wheels (to avoid punctures) at the rear with two lockable caster at the front.
The combination of wheels allows the CamKart to be pulled or pushed over a multitude of rough terrains including, stoney ground, boggy wet and muddy areas, Tree roots, steps and stairs and ramps, with the CamKart they are easily traversed with very minimal effort.
You can tell that the CamKart has been designed by a photographer for photographers as it includes several nice features, such as a ball head mount on the handle, a mounting strap and hook to mount a tripod and the fact that the box has been made to hold the weight of a person allowing you to stand on top and gain an extra 400mm of height to take photos over the top of the heads of other photographers.
Unlike my current backback which has to be placed on the floor to gain access (often on muddy floors or fields etc), the CamKart gives you quick and easy access to your camera and equipment, simply open it up and remove your kit from the selection of interior fitments, including partitioning and diced foam.
When flipped down the lid also serves as an edged table for you to place your kit, again it shows that Paul really cares about us and our needs as photographers.
You can check out a video of the CamKart in operation below
If you would like to get involved you can help to fund the CamKart via indegogo £200+postage will get you the all new model (subject to reaching funding goals).
I really hope that this gets funded, its great to see people addressing the needs of photographers.
Please feel free to contact me below and let me know what you think of the CamKart

The Price Of VR
The Price Of VR: How Long Before China Wakes Up?
by mikecane
This is the Samsung Gear VR:
It has a no-brainer Impulse Buy price of just US$99.
But …
… it requires a premium Samsung phone — S6, Note 5, S6 Edge, S6 Edge Plus — that costs a multiple of that:
And who the hell wants to waste a phone like that?
This is a huge opportunity for China to:
1) Develop a non-phone VR stick-in for a visor
2) Develop a visor into which multiple brands of phones can be inserted
Imagine buying a US$99 VR visor to use with a China-brand US$150 non-phone with a 4K screen!
That would be the biggest computing earthquake in human history.
Setting aside the Cheap & Nasty no-label Shenzhen factories — who gave us the Exploding Hoverboard — the one company that could pull this off would be Xiaomi.
And it should be their entry into the American marketplace.
No cellphone patent bullshit to deal with.
Same-day update: I am chagrined. xico2kx in Comments points out that China has been on it. I didn’t research it. VR hasn’t been on my radar until now and tablet sites in China tend not to cover it. Of all the visors (goggles? headsets?) listed here — at really low prices but with frustrating shipping times — the only brand name on that first page I would trust is LeTV (aka LeEco). And now I see there’s a whole new set of specs I have to study and see which are the best. Including weight!
YouTube 360
Includes VR:
These are VR videos—a brand new kind of video that gives you a sense of depth in every direction so you feel like you’re actually there. For full effect, watch them in a Google Cardboard viewer (g.co/cardboard).
Samsung delivers three immersive episodes of GONE VR along with behind the scene clips
Whereas normal movies tend to focus on a specific experience of what the screen allows, VR is designed to allow more of the experience – with a “look around” experience that helps you see more of the scene and gather more clues.

[ROM] Unofficial OpenELEC for MK808B+ and MXQ
[ROM] Unofficial OpenELEC for MK808B+ and MXQ
This ROM exists thanks to lots of hard work put into porting OpenELEC to Amlogic devices by codesnake. All thanks should go to him. I only forked his code and made some changes to make it work on MK808B Plus with HEVC support.
This is a port of OpenELEC for devices based on Amlogic chips. Open Embedded Linux Entertainment Center (OpenELEC) is a small Linux distribution built from scratch as a platform to turn your device into an XBMC media center.
Please note:
- Official OpenELEC team does NOT officialy support these builds, and is NOT involved in any way, so DO NOT POST bugs and DO NOT ASK for help on official OpenELEC site athttp://openelec.tv.
- If you need help, please ask questions in this topic. Please read FAQ before asking.
- Keep in mind that CEC does not work with cable supplied with MK808B+, you need to use a better one.
- If you wish to report a bug, please state clearly which release you are using, which device you have and provide logs (dmesg and Kodi log). Thank you for your cooperation!
- How to generate support logs
- I created this ROM for myself and work on it in my free time. I also don't know a lot of things so please be kind and patient if you encounter any bugs.
- MK808B Plus - reported to work on Tronsmart MK808B Plus and MK809 Plus
- Nexteon-made MXQ (a.k.a. Beelink MXQ - with red "MX" on top)
- HD18Q (a.k.a. all-black MXQ, OTT MXQ)
- I will not support/build for any other device I don't have
Latest OpenELEC 6.0 release: OpenELEC 6.0.0.1
